Ebbett Park School
The Ground
When the school’s old playground was being removed for new classrooms, Ebbett Park School on Oliphant Road in Raureka, Hastings made the most of the opportunity to engage Playground Creations for the design of their new play space.
Our team worked closely with Ebbett Park School Principal Kate Medlicott to ensure we delivered on a design that was going to suit the needs of the school’s 175 students.
The Creation
Inspired by Waikirikiri School playground which Kate and her team liked, we provided three different designs with varied layouts for students, teachers, and the school community to consider.
The preferred option came with a few minor changes that included a larger stage deck, shopfront, and rock wall complete with wooden structures to keep a natural feel throughout.
The Play
Ebbett Park School wanted a playground design that would get Tamariki moving in creative ways, both around and throughout the playground. To achieve that vision, we included equipment that encouraged climbing, traversing, hand/eye coordination, upper body strength, and imaginative play.
Equipment ranged from spider nets and rock walls to a cargo bridge, slalom rope, double pommel crossing and a deep rung bridge. A wheel trek, gladiator rings, and monkey bars challenge the upper body, while the shopfront sparks the imagination of Tamariki young and old.
