Hamilton Lake Domain
Project: Hamilton Lake Domain Playground
Client: Hamilton City Council
The Ground
It’s a favourite destination of many a Hamiltonian and visitor to the city. Lake Rotoroa is Hamilton’s central city lake and its surrounds are used daily by walkers, runners, boaties, waka ama racers, dogs, children, young and old.
Situated on the east of the lake is the playground at Hamilton Lake Domain. One of Hamilton City Council’s eight destination playgrounds, it caters for children of all ages with a range of apparatus, seating and picnic tables, and, of course, places to feed the ducks.
The Creation
In 2020, Playground Creations collaborated with landscape designer, Brodiehailwood and Kaebel Leisure on the upgrade of the junior play area, bringing the vision of a new swing experience to life.
Designed for architectural appeal as well as functionality, the swings are made from stainless steel, providing stability for users while enabling children to gain easy movement.
Powdercoated in the colour of Pounamu, the swings add an eye-catching element to the playground’s overall design. The frame reflects the ripples that can be seen on Lake Rotoroa while young (and old) can enjoy the magic of swinging high.
The Play
Lake Domain Playground continues to be one of Hamilton’s most popular play areas, and with the latest upgrade ensuring more shade, an extended water play area, and freshly painted boats and cars alongside our swings, it’s easy to see why.
“It's always great working with Playground Creations on projects. They always deliver on time and when needed. The lake project was no exception, the swings are like an art piece."
