Pāpāmoa Primary School
The Ground
In 2021, the Playground Creations team was tasked with the design and construction of Pāpāmoa Primary School’s senior playground. Two years on, another challenge was presented to us. This time, the design of a playspace the whole school could enjoy, with Year Two and Three students given priority.
Having been presented with a thorough brief, our team understood exactly what it was the school wanted… a playground with climbing apparatus, lower play elements, and opportunity for imaginative play. Needless to say, our team got to work.
The Creation
Taking centre stage of the new playground is a 4-metre-high Piton Net, complete with a pause pod halfway up and pommels and a jungle rope underneath. Made up of a variety of colours, including eye catching purple and orange, the Net plays a pivotal role in creating the magic of play.
Two playground modules add to the variety of play value in the design, with a range of sliding, balance, and core strength-inducing equipment. This includes bridges and balance beams, and a track glide and turning bars to challenge upper body strength.
The Play
Creativity was at the core of this playground to combine climbing activities with natural balance elements and space for movement, as well as catering for all social and physical abilities. Working closely with the school for a second time, the Playground Creations team were able to deliver on the school’s wish – to create a playground that would leave a legacy for the school community for years to come.
Pāpāmoa Primary School wanted to create a playground space that would leave a legacy for the school community for years to come. Working with a group of staff alongside the design team at Playground Creations enabled us to bring to life the aims and wants of tamariki and staff. We are thrilled with the outcome of our new playground and it has been thoroughly enjoyed by both Pāpāmoa Tamariki and the wider community.
